NAM's General Counsel To Speak at the NYSBA Annual Labor & Employment Law Section Fall Meeting

NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is proud to announce that NAM's General Counsel, Jacqueline I. Silvey, Esq., will join in a panel discussion on Employment Arbitration at the New York State Bar Association's (NYSBA) Annual Labor & Employment Law Section Fall Meeting. The meeting will be held at The Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing, NY from Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Ms. Silvey will participate in a 75-minute program entitled Three Providers: Three Sets of Rules: An Examination of Similarities and Differences to be held on Friday, October 20th from 3:15 – 4:30 p.m. She will provide insight into the advantages of using arbitration as an alternative way to effectively settle disputes and will discuss the processes and rules attorneys and their clients must consider. Topics to be addressed will include administrative procedures, a comparison of commercial versus employment rules; expedited versus complex proceeds, individual agreement versus employer plan, due process protocols, initiating a case, filing fees and available waivers, selection of the arbitrator, pleadings and counter claims, additional parties, motion practice, party and third party discovery, hearing protocols, issuance of an award and privacy issues.

Ms. Silvey will be joined by Anne Lesser, Esq., Vice President of AAA, Labor, Employment and Elections Division and Matt York, General Manager of JAMS. Richard P. Byrne, Esq., will also be attending this year's meeting, one NAM's top commercial mediators.

As General Counsel, Jacqueline Silvey is involved in various administrative operations of the company including panel development, oversight and implementation of commercial and employment dispute resolution initiatives and general business affairs of the company. She has been invited to participate in numerous continuing legal education seminars to speak on the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
