Honorable Jerome C. Gorski Selected To Mediate Major Law Firm Dispute

November 15, 2017

NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) is proud to announce that the Honorable Jerome C. Gorski has been selected to oversee the court-authorized mediation between the two partners of the Buffalo based law firm Cellino and Barnes, P.C. In May 2017, Ross M. Cellino, Jr. filed a law suit against his partner, Stephen E. Barnes. Each has accused the other of wrongdoing, requesting the court to dissolve their firm and a partnership of 30 years.

Mr. Cellino has accused Mr. Barnes of financial improprieties. Mr. Barnes has accused Mr. Cellino of leaving most the important decisions to him and then complain about the decisions made. Both have vehemently denied each other's accusations. For the past 6 months, Judge Gorski has met regularly with both sides attempting to reach a resolution. The mediations continue with everyone involved still hopeful that a settlement can be reached.

Hon. Gorski served as a judge in the State of New York for over 20 years. He was appointed to the Appellate Division, Fourth Dept. by Governor George Pataki in 2001. Prior to that, he served as a Trial Judge for the Eighth Judicial District for over a dozen years. He was voted a Top Ten Arbitrator in the New York Law Journal Annual Reader Rankings Survey for three straight years (2014-2016) and was named a National Law Journal 2016 Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 48 nationwide. He is a highly-regarded neutral and is known for his broad knowledge of legal issues, as well as his strong negotiating and superior settlement skills. Justice Gorski has handled a wide variety of case types that include complex commercial, contracts, product liability and personal injury matters.

Cellino and Barnes is a high-profile personal injury law firm with offices throughout New York State and California.

Jerome Gorski is available to arbitrate and mediation cases in the Buffalo/Rochester areas.
