Borkowski, Esq., has been invited to speak in a panel discussion at the DRI 2021 Annual Meeting in a program entitled, Virtual Mediation 101: Navigating the Best Practices of Mediation in the Remote World.  This CLE presentation will convene on Thursday, October 14th from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Boston Hotel and Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA.

Mr. Borkowski will be joined on the panel by L. Pepper Cossar, Esq. of Markow Walker PA, Carolyn E. Riggs, Esq. of Ice Miller LLP and Robin Silver, Esq. of Miles & Stockbridge PC. The discussion will be moderated by David M. Goodman of Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady LLP.

Since the outset of the pandemic, practitioners in all areas of the law have become familiar with virtual appearances. Between client meetings, court appearances , and depositions, “Zoom” has become both a noun and verb present in every aspect of the legal profession. Mediations and arbitrations are no exception.

Given the docket backlogs that have resulted from the pandemic-related closures, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) remains a dynamic way to resolve matters fairly, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner in the post-COVID world. Even though courts and law offices across the country have slowly begun to reopen to in-person visitors, it is clear that virtual practice is her to stay.

Panelists will discuss “best practices” for proceeding with arbitrations and mediations in a virtual forum, both generally and with practice-specific concentration.
