New York Women's Bar Association Honors NAM's Justice Karla M. Moskowitz With the Award of Special Recognition

New York, NY (June 8, 2018) – NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation), one of the nation's leading Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) providers, is proud to announce that esteemed NAM neutral, the Honorable Karla M. Moskowitz, will be presented with the New York Women's Bar Association's (NYWBA) Award of Special Recognition at the Association's 2018 Annual Awards and Installation Dinner. The event will be held at Tribeca 360°, 10 Desbrosses Street, New York, NY on Tuesday, June 12th at 7:30 p.m. The award honors and celebrates Justice Moskowitz's illustrious and longstanding legal career and her many decades of service to the NYWBA.
Prior to joining NAM, Justice Moskowitz spent 10 years as an Associate Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, 1st Department. She was appointed to the Appellate Division in 2008 where she served until her retirement in 2017.
Having served as a past president of the NYWBA, Justice Moskowitz has been a member of the organization since graduating from Columbia Law School in 1966. She has founded and chaired several Association committees, including those on the legal referral services and child care. She has also served as a past president of the New York State Association of Women Judges and the National Association of Women Judges.
Justice Moskowitz is a staunch supporter of women's rights and diversity in the workplace. She has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her advocacy from a variety of institutions, including the Abigail Allen Award from Alfred University (her alma mater), the Edith I. Spivack Award for the Women's Rights Committee of the New York County Lawyer's Association, the Founders Award of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York and the Women of Valor Award of Women's Medical Association of New York City.
In 2018, Justice Moskowitz was appointed Special Master of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, First Judicial Department for the pre-argument mediation program. She is also an active member of the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association. She is a frequent lecturer on a myriad of topics including diversity and inclusion in the workplace, civility in the courtroom, commercial litigation, and e-discovery.
