Peter B. Skelos (Ret.), Michael W. Emerson, Esq. and Peter J. Mastaglio, Esq, have been invited by the law firm Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP to present a live streaming CLE webinar, Business Divorce and the Use of ADR as a Path to Resolution. The presentation will be held virtually on Tuesday, January 26th, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. to members of the firm.

The program will be an interactive one, where attendees will learn about the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in resolving issues related to business divorce from NAM's highly regarded panel.

Topics to be discussed will include:

  • The value of ADR in resolving matters related to business divorce

About NAM's Presenters

Honorable Peter B. Skelos' career includes 11 years spent as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department. Throughout his many years on the bench, he was known for having a keen legal intellect with compassion for those who appeared before him and is rated “Highly Qualified” by the New York State Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission. Judge Skelos' experience both on the bench and in private practice, gives him a broad range of knowledge in numerous areas of the law including construction litigation, professional liability and insurance coverage disputes. In 2020, for the fifth year in a row, Judge Skelos was voted a Top Ten Neutral in the New York Law Journal Best Of Survey and in 2018, for the second straight year, he was named a National Law Journal Alternative Dispute Resolution Champion, as part of a select group of only 46 nationwide.

Michael W. Emerson, a financial services industry veteran who has practiced law for more than thirty-five years. He has served as a U.S. General Counsel and a Deputy General Counsel at several of the world's largest financial institutions. A long-time proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mr. Emerson uses his extensive experience in the financial services industry when mediating and arbitrating in a private ADR forum. He is recognized by his peers both for his keen legal acumen and for his deep business background and experience, making him exceptionally well-qualified to be an effective mediator and arbitrator with NAM.

Peter J. Mastaglio, Esq. is a member of NAM's (National Arbitration and Mediation) Hearing Officer Panel and is available to arbitrate and mediate commercial cases throughout the New York Metro area. Mr. Mastaglio is a strong proponent of ADR and is recognized as a highly regarded and knowledgeable attorney with substantial experience handling commercial matters, as a mediator and as a litigator.  He has successfully represented clients in a diverse range of matters that include employment, discrimination, real property taxation, eminent domain, zoning and land use, general contract and corporate law, constitutional law, real estate law, creditors' rights and professional malpractice litigation.
